Conversations: Intimate Salons with folk art makers, collectors & icons presents Roxanne Swentzell, Native American clay & bronze sculptor, and contemporary pueblo artist.
September 26, 202310:00 AM - 12:00 PM
Join the Friends of Folk Art to hear the personal stories of Roxanne Swentzell. Roxanne will take us through her gallery and explain the symbolism and meanings of her work. She will also talk about the installation of her work at the Poeh Cultural Center. Roxanne focuses a lot on interpretative female portraits attempting to bring back the balance of power between the male and female, inherently recognized in her own culture. Additionally, she increasingly uses a powerful sense of humor to communicate. Her figures represent a full range of emotions and irrepressible moods. Though steeped in her own culture, Roxanne’s work demonstrates an astounding universality, speaking to people of all cultures.
