Celebrate Summer with the Lion Dancers

Come and see the dynamic Lion Dance performances by the Quang Minh Buddhist Temple Youth Group of Albuquerque.

Performances at 1 pm and 2 pm. FREE admission for all New Mexico residents.

We had to cancel our annual Lunar New Year event this February with the Lion Dancers, so we are inviting them back to celebrate the start of summer.

The Lunar New Year 2022 celebrates the Year of the Tiger

The Quang Minh Lion Dance Group of Albuquerque is  a non-profit lion dance troupe. "All funds raised by the youth group are used to further the teachings of Buddhism and Vietnamese language and culture to the community. Quang Minh Buddhist Youth Group was founded in 1996 and is still going 15 years strong. Our lion dance troupe has been the finest and oldest team around for over a decade. Join us for one of our energy filled performances and experience the history and tradition! We perform year around. Bringing good luck and fortune to any event."

The Friends of Folk Art presents the 11th Annual Folk Art Flea! This year’s Flea will be the largest and most diverse in its history and will be in a spacious new location to accommodate folk art from around the world. The Flea will take place at the Santa Fe County Fairgrounds, 3229 Rodeo Drive. Admission is free.

The Friends of Folk Art presents the 11th Annual Folk Art Flea! This year’s Flea will be the largest and most diverse in its history and will be in a spacious new location to accommodate folk art from around the world. The Flea will take place at the Santa Fe County Fairgrounds, 3229 Rodeo Drive. Although admission is free, members of Friends of Folk Art enjoy early admission to the Flea from 9 to 10 a.m. Public admission is from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.

All proceeds benefit educational programs and exhibitions at the Museum of International Folk Art, through the Museum of New Mexico Foundation, a private nonprofit organization.

If you are not already a Foundation member, you may join here. A Foundation membership is required before joining a Friends group. Each group is $100 per individual or $150 for two people.

Folk Art Museum Night at Railyard Park

Join us for a FREE film night featurring A Letter to Momo at the Santa Fe Railyard in collaboration with AMP Concerts.  This movie is presented in conjunction with the exhibit, Yokai: Monsters and Demons of JapanSmokin’ Bachi (also known as Santa Fe Wadaiko) will perform Japanese Taiko drumming at 7 pm before the film.

Visit  the Folk Art Museum to experience the exciting Yokai exhibit that includes a Japanese ghost house. 

The Santa Fe Railyard movie series takes place on the beautiful Railyard Park Performance Lawn in the heart of the Railyard Park, located at the intersection of Paseo De Peralta and Cerrillos Rd. Midsummer Magic on Museum Hill

Join us for an enchanted evening of magic, music, spirits and savories at the Museum of International Folk Art (MOIFA) on Milner Plaza.

The event will feature Scandinavian songs and medieval ballads by Scott and Johanna Hongell-Darsee, Scandinavian-inspired hors d’oeuvres by Walter Burke Catering, a specialty aquavit cocktail, wine and beer, flower crown decorations, and Midsummer-related surprises.

Presented in conjunction with the current exhibition, Dressing with Purpose: Belonging and Resistance in Scandinavia. The exhibition and the Museum Shop will be open for you to enjoy.

About Scott and Johanna Hongell-Darsee

Scott and Johanna are a duo who perform early traditional Scandinavian/Celtic ballads and tales. Their wanderings have led them from Finland and Iowa respectively - through Europe, Scandinavia, India, and the U.S. On the way they have picked up tales and songs that they perform together with the stories behind them, in particular exploring the links between Scandinavian, Celtic, North American and other story singing traditions.
