Classes are encouraged to tour the museum with or without a docent. There is no charge for New Mexico educational groups attending the museum with their instructor and/or adult chaperones. The museum requires at least 1 chaperone for every 10 students. Parents, chaperones, and adult helpers are also admitted free when accompanying a group! Educational groups from outside New Mexico qualify for a group discount. The Folk Art To Go! program consists of a 45-minute pre-museum visit by an Educator with an introduction to the museum, and hands-on objects. Once at the museum, a 60-minute exhibition tour and 90-minute hands on art project, designed for two classes, (with a maximum of 50 students) takes place. The program begins in October and ends in May, happening on Wednesdays and Thursdays. Funds are available to help off-set the cost of transportation. Folk Art To Go! is available on a first-come, first-serve basis to designated Santa Fe Public Schools. Folk Art Outreach Trunks are available for area educators to check out to use in the classroom. These include hands-on objects, lesson plans, books, and DVDs.
